Hawaii has no access to Google services under President Joe Biden, according to a new decision on sanctions.
When Joe Biden became President of the United States, there was little hope Huawei. The Chinese technology brand has been banned by Trump and can be relied upon to alleviate the situation. But the same politician who originally gave Hawaii some hope is now snatching it all up. Google Will not be returning to Hawaii for now.
Hawaii was banned under Python
With the appointment of Gina Raimonto, the new Minister of Economic Affairs, any possibility of Hawaii’s recovery seems to have disappeared. Raimondo recently announced that it was considering easing sanctions on Huawei. But now that he’s actually appointed ‘Commerce Secretary’, it’s over.
In response to questions from Republican politicians, he loses all faith in Hawaii (via: Bloomberg):
I understand that the parties appear on the corporate list (…) because they endanger US national security or serve foreign interests. I have no reason at present to believe that the parties on that list should no longer exist.
In short, they will have to work hard for the time being in their own ecosystem run by Humani HarmonyOS. Google does not appear to be returning to the Chinese brand at any time. But this meager opportunity for the Hawaiian company has additional consequences because sanctions had to divert the brand, including the Honor.
