Environmental vision Horst offers redevelopment space in Veluwe Park

Under certain conditions, the municipal executive cooperated in principle with the request for Bungalowpark de Veluwe to be converted into a residential destination. He made this decision based on the environmental vision of the Horst Leisure Group. The De Veluwe bungalow park is the sixth park to receive a decision in principle.

The park meets the conditions

The Environmental Vision of the Horst cluster offers room for new developments. For example, parks can choose to move from leisure to life. The parks must then respect a certain number of frameworks and conditions and develop a park plan. The important themes of such a park plan are fire safety, a good future living environment, conservation of greenery and sustainability. In addition, the park must also respect financial equalization.

This is based on the infrastructural adjustments to be made in the area as well as on measures aimed at enhancing nature and sustainability. The plan of the Bungalowpark de Veluwe has been tested by the municipality against the frameworks and prerequisites. The result is that the bungalow park can start converting the bungalows into houses. The next step in the process is to conduct studies, after which the zoning plan can be developed.

Carry on together
Based on the environmental vision of the Horst leisure cluster, this transformation is made possible for 14 leisure parks. The municipality is working with the parks in the process of transforming the Horst recreation cluster. The municipality’s role of facilitator is important here: we actively seek and reflect on the conversion to housing, but we are not the initiator.

Vital holiday parks
Since 2017, the municipality of Ermelo has been working with stakeholders to develop a vision of the territory for the Horst leisure center. This vision was adopted by the board last year. Parks can now choose between three perspectives for the future: maintaining leisure activities, converting them into “residential parks” or restructuring them into new functions. Many parks are currently working on individual park plans which we will then test against the environmental vision. The cluster is part of the Vital Holiday Parks program. With this program, the municipality strengthens residential recreation in Ermelo.
