Dutch tax adviser Frank B. has been indicted in New York for trying to hide more than $100 million from the US IRS.
Aged 63, B. de Naarden is known as the tax expert for stars in the world of showbiz. He has worked for world famous DJs such as Afrojack and Tiësto, models and various TV presenters including Linda de Mol. He set up constructions in tax havens for his clients, thanks to which they should pay less taxes.
According to the US Attorney, B’s clients saved millions of dollars each year. In some years, they became U.S. taxpayers, obligating them by law to pay U.S. taxes on their worldwide earnings. Among these clients, according to the prosecution, are two internationally renowned DJs, who are not named.
“Ignored Obligations”
B., as a tax advisor to many wealthy clients, was aware of the responsibility his clients had to pay U.S. taxes on their income, but he ignored that obligation and chose to fraudulently hide that income from the attorney. IRS.
B. was arrested at his vacation home in Italy on July 12 for extradition to the United States. B.’s Dutch lawyer said this week that his client assumed he was “acting in accordance with all international tax laws and treaties”.
