Pien Dicke and Joosje Burg secured a 2-0 scoreline at halftime, after which the Netherlands had to wait until the finals. Renée van Laarhoven signed in the 49th minute with a penalty ball for the 3-0. Dicke, Marijn Veen and Luna Fokke further increased the score.
The Dutch had won the first seven games in the Pro League before the game against Australia ended in a 3-3 draw last weekend. The Netherlands then lost the penalty shootout series, for a bonus point, 2-1.
The Netherlands will face the United States again on Tuesday. Double ties with Germany and New Zealand also await in June. At the beginning of July, two matches against Belgium are scheduled for the Olympic champion from the Netherlands.
National coach Paul van As’s side are third in the standings with 25 points from nine games. America number 8 has 7 points in nine games. Argentina sit in first place with 29 points, but have played five games more.
