The hit Dutch drama series Overspel is also getting a Polish remake after an American one. Polish broadcaster Polsat is currently working on the project, BNNVARA announced on Wednesday. In the Polish version, actors Anny Karczmarczyk, Dawida Ogrodnika, Pawła Małaszyńskiego and Mariety Żukowskiej play the main roles.
The recordings have already started. The series aired in the Netherlands between 2011 and 2015 and ran for three seasons. Overspel focused on the consequences of the affair between the talented photographer Iris Hoegaarde (Sylvia Hoeks) and the ambitious lawyer Willem Steenhouwer (Fedja van Huêt). Other major roles were played by Kees Prins, Ramsey Nasr, Rifka Lodeizen and Guido Pollemans.
Writer and director Frank Ketelaar’s series has kept an audience of millions glued to the tube in the Netherlands for years. Overspel received the Golden Calf for Best Television Series at the Netherlands Film Festival.
The original version of Overspel has aired in several countries in recent years, from Belgium to New Zealand. The American remake aired on ABC in 2013, under the title Betrayal.
