Dutch Congress School Attendance – VO Council

During this event, you will gain insight into various aspects of school attendance based on scientific research, you will receive tools for further development, you will learn from concrete practical examples and personal experiences, you will get an overview of OCW political developments and there will be plenty of space to gather. During these two days, you will discover contributions that will bring you new perspectives, better cooperation and concrete actions. The program is structured in such a way that it does not matter whether or not you are already familiar with the concept of school attendance.

Choose from more than 60 contributions

During the conference, you can choose from more than 60 presentations, workshops, panel discussions and more, given by many experts and organizations that focus on school attendance. Confirmed young people will also be present during these two days.

Specialized speakers

Speakers for November 16 are Dr. David Heyne and Dr. Patricia Graczyk. David has 30 years of experience in the field of school attendance, both in practice and in scientific research. He is co-founder of the International Network for School Attendance (INSA) and the Dutch Knowledge Network School Absenteeism (KNSA). David has held positions in Australia at the University of Melbourne and Monash University, and most recently in the Netherlands at Leiden University. With his keynote address, “Embracing Change: Research and Practice,” he urges us to embrace change to achieve meaningful results for young people, families, and all those involved in school attendance. Dr. Patricia Graczyk, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, is coming from America especially for this conference and, along with Christopher Kearney, is “the founding father” of the Multidimensional Multi-Level Support System ( MD-MTSS) school attendance framework.

Two keynotes will take place on the second day. René Halberstadt has 30 years of experience in the field of school attendance from different angles: practical, political, management and scientific. He is now the ‘Cooperation and Development’ project manager at Ingrado. René takes us through a socio-pedagogical approach to school attendance and presents the results of his thesis ‘Opening the black box of school absenteeism’, with which he will obtain his doctorate at Erasmus University in January ’24. Gil Keppens, Assistant Professor TSB: Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, TSB: Department of Sociology. During his opening speech, Gil approaches school attendance from a sociological point of view, emphasizing the Flemish context.

Costs of attending the Dutch Congress School

The costs for this two-day conference are € 290,- including 21% VAT. Through the online registration form buy a ticket for this two-day conference and pay directly via iDEAL or bank transfer.

Dinner and night

Are you staying for dinner and overnight? You can through it online form register for dinner on November 16 and/or reserve a hotel room. The charge for dinner including two drinks (house wine, beer or soft drinks) is €52.50 including tax. The hotel room includes breakfast and municipal and local taxes and costs €192.50 including tax. It is not possible to book a hotel room directly or locally at the Pullman Hotel Cocagne.

If you wish to arrive the night before to start the conference relaxed on November 16, you can also opt for two nights including breakfast and municipal and local taxes. The costs then amount to €385.00 including tax. We offer a comfortable and informal evening program.
