WELL Aldi wants to move the store to Enghuusweg 13 and has submitted a request to apply the coordination scheme. At the committee room held last Thursday, members indicated that they saw no problem in implementing this coordinating arrangement. Only municipal interests considered it preferable to discuss first among themselves whether a relocation from the Aldi to the Enghuusweg was desirable.
Center coordinator Simon Hiemstra spoke at the meeting. “In Putten, we don’t want to allow shops outside the center and supermarkets should also be located on the edge of the central area. And this also applies to Aldi. Supermarkets strengthen the center and, in my opinion, the municipality should not encourage the creation of a supermarket outside the center. In addition, Putten-Zuid will be a district where many young families will settle and the arrival of a large supermarket will jeopardize road safety. Right now you don’t want trucks in the neighborhoods. But the arrival of such a supermarket will not stop this. Customer cars will also create dangerous situations for cyclists in particular. I don’t know if there is a place for Aldi on the edge of the center, but it’s up to them to look for a place along the center. I personally think there might be a possibility where the De Putter Eng gym is now located. Houses can then be built above the supermarket. There is also room for sufficient parking space. And that puts the Aldi in an acceptable location relative to the center. But maybe I’m too far away now.
WIN TIME Sander van Nieuwenhuizen from Gemeentebelangen says: “I understand that it is a procedural matter to link the zoning plan to the environmental permit and that it saves Aldi time. But I have some difficulty with this. Isn’t it much more important to first think together if we really want this trip. The arrival of a supermarket of this size also has an impact on the development of Putten-Zuid. We are not giving up too much our room for maneuver. We want to prevent a huge flat box from being built there when we need all the space to build a high quality residential area. Now we say go ahead and start and then after a while we tell you we can’t find the right supermarket for this location. I think this is an almost inappropriate administration. I would much prefer that we think about these kinds of plans at the front. Submit a discussion note and we’ll get you some frames. Now we go back to the background of a shot.
Alderman Ewoud ‘t Jong of the SGP believes that this is not a question for the moment. “As far as we are concerned, this procedure can be used. Then we will answer the other questions. Aldi assumes it’s possible there and if we’re ok with that will be discussed at a later stage. This is also the risk Aldi is taking. We recommend following all procedures correctly. Precisely when it comes back to us, it will be tested against our policy and if it deviates from our policy, we will have to find something about it. And only then can we not want the Enghuusweg supermarket. Wij Putten agrees with this. Jan van Meerveld from CDA thinks it is great that the process is streamlined. “Later, we’ll talk about the content. Communication with the neighborhood is very important to us. A simple note in the door is not enough in our opinion. We want there to be room for the neighborhood to talk. “
Erik van Hemel of ChristenUnie also tends to watch the content. “We also think it’s a drastic decision and you start to think about road safety and location. We want an integrated vision to be made for Putten Zuid, and it is not good if a part is already destined for a supermarket.
Alderman ‘t Jong indicates that this is indeed a procedural decision. “In the future, you will have a lot of space to find something about this. A draft zoning plan will be developed and the province will also look into this issue. Then the plan is made available for inspection and the opportunity to participate ensues. So the plans are really still tested on the merits. The risk that the plans do not cooperate is for Aldi. ”
Van Nieuwenhuizen has not yet decided and is putting the subject on the agenda as a point of discussion for the board meeting to be held on April 22.
