Plan about 100 rental units on the Gildestraat
The municipality of Dijk en Waard and Woonstichting Langedijk will jointly promote the construction of around 100 social rental units in the Gildestraat, opposite the Oogcentrum Noordholland. The feasibility of this plan is currently under study.
Alderman Nils Langedijk and director Tim van Ruiten of Woonstichting Langedijk signed a cooperation agreement this week for the development of social rental housing on the southern flank of the new Stationskwartier.
Accelerated construction
The Gildestraat site is one of the so-called urgent sites where construction can be accelerated. This was set out in November 2021 in the Letter of Intent for Social Housing Emergency Locations. Gildestraat housing is also included in the master plan for the Dijk en Waard station district, which has been adopted by the municipality.
Woonstichting Langedijk will now make an initial design for the planned building plan. The intention is for this design to be completed within three months. The ambition is to start construction in the second half of 2024.
Redevelopment
The mayor and aldermen of have already given the green light to preparations for the redevelopment of Gildestraat. This project is mainly dedicated to housing, but also paves the way for the extension of the Eye Center Noordholland and a renovated public space.
The Gildestraat project is part of the municipality’s ambition to build many new homes in the years to come in collaboration with housing companies and project promoters. In the middle of the new municipality, a renovated Stationskwartier Dijk en Waard is gradually being created, with living, working and (educational) facilities and a more coherent public space.
