Basketball club Den Helder Suns today announced their new coach for next season. Daniel Nelson, 39, succeeds Peter van Noord, who has said goodbye to the Eredivisionist after six years.
Despite his young age, Nelson, who comes from Ireland, has already held many positions in international basketball. Last season, Nelson was ultimately in charge of KB Rahoveci in Kosovo and before that he worked in Germany, Australia and New Zealand, among other places.

Nelson tells the Suns club website that he is looking forward to the upcoming season and the home games at Den Helder’s new gym which is not yet complete. “After the first conversations, it became clear to me that I wanted to work for Den Helder Suns. in the BNXT League to start working in a new room,” Nelson said.
Last season, Den Helder only managed to keep Apollo Amsterdam under control in the BNXT League. The new season opens for the Suns on Saturday September 23 with a home game against Dutch champions Leiden.
