The college football slate on Friday served as a good appetizer on Saturday, and also confirmed where the teams have placed in the college football playoff rankings since Tuesday. In particular, the 15-point Oregon rankings seemed more appropriate, with the Ducks taking an 11-point half-time lead and losing to rival Oregon State 41-38.
Some thought Oregon was rated in the introductory CFP rankings, but Friday put an end to that thinking, while at the same time bringing good results to some groups that some believed were exaggerated in the first poll. Take Iowa for example. Tuesday but they thrashed Nebraska 26-20 on Friday, extending their win to four places and proving they deserved to be ranked above all else.
Finally, 13th Iowa State and No. 2 Notre Dame established themselves to maintain their position in the advancing rankings on Saturday as the college football season rolls on. Hurricanes beat 17th Texas 23-20, while Irish 25th North Carolina 31-17.
