Cat survives 11 days on New York airport ceiling | Abroad

Taylor and Muji were at the airport on Christmas Eve. An airport worker insisted that the black and white animal be removed from her transporter or she could not pass screening.

In vain

Just as Le was about to pick up her cat, the six-year-old started running again. Muji ended up in the technical room at the airport, where two airport workers repeatedly attempted to catch the animal. It turned out to be in vain.

According to Taylor, all the attempts to capture the animal only complicate the situation: “The situation was getting worse.”

Eventually, Muji disappeared into the ceiling. They tried to trap Muji with trays of tuna. Taylor booked her flight, hoping the issue would be resolved the next day. But … The cat remained hidden in the ceiling.

No roof over his head

What made the entire operation considerably more difficult was that Taylor was in the middle of a move at the time. She was due to move from Brooklyn, New York, to Orange County, California: “I didn’t have a place to sleep. I had nothing. I did not know what to do. In the end, I got on the plane the next day.

The days passed and Muji was still holed up in the ceiling of LaGuardia Airport. In desperation, Le turned to Facebook for help.

For example, the American came into contact with Where Is Jack Inc., an organization committed to making air travel as animal-friendly as possible. A group of volunteers has been called in to speed up the search. The was also allowed to search for Muji with a tracker dog, Abby.

For a moment, Muji’s adventure seemed to end: the adventurous cat turned out to be back in the tech room. However, Taylor’s hopes were dashed: the usual methods of attracting the cat didn’t help.

Finally caught

Finally, on January 4, Muji was captured 11 days after hoping for her freedom. Taylor: “I started to cry when I heard the message. It’s a miracle.”

The cat was taken to Long Island Animal Hospital to be reunited with its owner on Tuesday.

Last Saturday the two were finally able to resume their trip to California together: “This time I have a special harness for her, and I’m asking for private screenings at the controls.” While the whole incident had a huge impact on Le, she is convinced that the bond between her and Muji is now stronger than ever.
