Photographers set out to capture the light show in all sorts of variations. A partial solar eclipse always seems to have spiritual significance to some. On a beach in the Pakistani metropolis of Karachi, parents partially buried their sick children, hoping exposure to light during a solar eclipse would have a healing effect.

Although the sun is a little less noticeable during an eclipse, it turned out this week that global warming is always going in the wrong direction. The concentration in the atmosphere of the main greenhouse gases – CO2, methane and nitrous oxide – increased further in 2021, reports the World Meteorological Organization in a new report. CO emissions.2 has “bounced back” from the covid lockdowns of 2020, only a rapid and large-scale global shift to renewables can contain global warming somewhat.
