Benny Miranda: ‘Brunswijk crazy coronation; the president must intervene to stop this’

Deputy BEP spokesman Bennie Miranda said Suriname’s Constitution offered no basis for appointing Vice President and ABOP President Ronnie Brunswijk as king. “We don’t have royalties in Suriname. It’s actually crazy that something like this is just made up. In Suriname, we know captain, basja, granman, district commissioner and president. It’s not okay further,” Miranda pointed out in an interview with Culturu TV on Thursday.

He believes that President Chan Santokhi should intervene to prevent this so-called reward by a committee of the Trusteeship Council of African Royal Kingdoms. “Because we will soon learn that the state will also have to pay a certain amount to some kind of royal house with fake princes and princesses. And that is illegal and illegal. We are not crazy in this country, is Suriname has never had a king, so the president and DNA members must intervene,” the politician said.

Officially, Brunswijk’s title becomes Her Royal Majesty of the African Diaspora in Suriname. With the award comes the task of uniting Afro-Surinamese, especially Maroons and Creoles.

Brunswijk’s coronation takes place at Moengo Tapoe. Miranda fears that with this step from Brunswijk, other population groups in Suriname will also follow the same path.

“Otherwise the Javanese of Tamanredjo can also say tomorrow or the day after that they are going to install a blablabla king. Residents of Atjoni, Brokopondo, Sipaliwini and Gujaba can also say next month that they will install a king there. It then becomes a madhouse. They will laugh at us in the Netherlands and around the world. The president must intervene to stop this,” the deputy BEP spokesperson said.

He adds that there is also no royal lineage that the CEO of ABOP can rely on. He therefore proposes that Brunswijk realize his kingship in Ghana instead, because this kingship is imposed on Afro-Surinameses.

The deputy BEP spokesman suspects that Brunswijk will be crowned because he knows he will not become president in 2025 and will not return as vice-president. This allows him to take a piece of heritage with him.

Meanwhile, Brunswijk invites in a video ‘alla buskondee sma, ala photo sisa nanga photo bala‘ out, to witness the big moment on Saturday.
