Where black silver was successful from the United States a few years ago, a protest movement is now gaining popularity. For example, the charity Trees for All started Green Friday a few years ago with the support of various retail chains. Other companies are also coming up with their own initiatives.
According to Trees for All, with all the offers, black silver leads to the purchase order. Thus the bargaining ceremony encourages high consumption, which is detrimental to the earth. Retail chains such as Dille & Kamille, Intratuin, Decathlon and ANWB are participating in the ad, along with dozens of other companies. For example, Dille & Kamille have no special offers this Friday, and the company invites people to go out into nature. Intratuin greens in an area of 1 square meter for each tree that customers buy that day.
Furniture chain IKEA has had its own alternative to black silver for many years, which is called Pring Pack Friday. On that day, customers who trade in old IKEA furniture will receive a refund more than usual. In this way, the Swedish company wants to become more stable.
Bever Zwerfsport, an outdoor chain, offers free clothing repairs under the name Future Fridays. Customers can also service their walking shoes. According to that retail chain, black silver leads to higher consumption and higher productivity. “That is what our earth is not waiting for.”
The travel organization TUI also states that it will not participate in all types of stunt activities. The company wants to celebrate Red Friday on Friday and focus on its standard holidays. Ana Henriques, manager of brands and campaigns at TUI, said: “We hope to do something, not just talk about what you want to contribute to a better world.”
The stability contribution that customers always pay for those trips through TUI also doubles. The money goes to programs that help local communities during the holidays.
