Philadelphia International Airport announces new COVID-19 test site

Philadelphia (WPVI) – Passengers departing from Philadelphia International Airport can now receive a COVID-19 test before departure.

Voluntary tests will be administered by Jefferson University Hospital staff. There are three options – PCR, Rapid PCR and Antigen.

“It’s made of a nasal cloth. It’s a little deeper than a regular nasal cloth, but it’s not very uncomfortable. It’s just a few seconds,” said Dr. Stephen Glask, president of Jefferson University and CEO of Jefferson Health.

Prices range from $ 70 to $ 130. The quicker the result, the higher the price test.

“Theoretically, you can pick it up, and the result will be at the time you land,” Glasgow said of the quick test.

“Others may take 48 to 72 hours.”

Passengers wishing to use this voluntary test will make an appointment and stop for free at Terminal E to receive a corona virus test.

For example, some island nations in the Caribbean and Hawaii require proof of a negative corona virus test result.

“This is another option that people have if they want to travel,” said Celly Cameron, chief executive of the airline’s Philadelphia division.

If the result is positive, the local health department and the CDC will take action.

“They will be notified of Jefferson’s results and then they can take appropriate action to add someone to the boarding list,” Cameron said.

The airport corona virus testing site is open seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
