The CMDR said the turboprop plane crashed into a CD at around 5pm in Foley, about 30 miles from the mobile. Zach Harrell, Public Affairs Officer with the Navy Air Force.
Harrell said the names of the deceased will be released after relatives are notified. The aircraft is usually occupied by a student pilot and an instructor.
The Navy is not aware of any civilian casualties, Harrell said.
The plane caught fire in a home in the crash, but the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office said no one was injured on the ground.
There are 245 D-6Bs based at the Navy’s two flight training bases, the Naval Airport at Whiting Field, 24 miles northeast of Fensa Cola, Florida, and the Corpus Christi Naval Airport in Texas. Six additional D-6B aircraft have been grounded at the U.S. Navy Test Pilot School on the Poultry River at Naval Airport in Maryland.
The airport is 45 miles from the crash site.
CNN approached the Federal Aviation Administration with no further comment.
