“We see the reaction of the people to the news coming in the media,” Willem-Alexander and his wife, Queen Maxima, said in a statement released by the Royal House late on Friday.
“There is no doubt that it is necessary to follow the guidelines for controlling the COVID-19 virus. Our holiday discussion did not contribute to that.”

“This is unwise and incomprehensible,” ANP news agency quoted King Justin Snell, a T-66 legislator who was one of the coalition partners in Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s ruling coalition.
In a televised speech on Tuesday, Rutte urged the nation not to “test the boundaries of the rules.”
“You can go on vacation, but go to the place where you booked your cottage or hotel room, do not go around,” the Prime Minister said. “If you go abroad – your preferences will be less because there are some countries that no longer want to keep us.”
Willem-Alexander, who owns a private villa in southern Greece, traveled by government jet, ANP reported.
The Netherlands on Friday registered nearly 8,000 new corona virus cases.
Willem-Alexander and his wife, Queen Maxima, apologized after a pre-holiday holiday in August, after a photo was released showing them violating social distance guidelines on Milos Island.
