Michael van Gerwen won the Poland Darts Masters in very convincing fashion on Saturday night. In the final he left Dimitri van den Bergh with 8-3 without a chance.
Van Gerwen had been supreme in Warsaw all evening. With averages of 110 and 104, he was already too strong for Luke Humphries (6-2) and Michael Smith respectively in the quarterfinals and semifinals.
In the final, Van den Bergh won the first leg, but Van Gerwen took a 3-1 lead thanks to two 13-darts and a 12-dart. He then raced to 6-2 via two 11-darts.
A 12 dart in the ninth set then brought the Dutchman within a set of victory in the Polish capital. Van den Bergh then took one more step before a superior Van Gerwen took the overall victory with a 15 dart, ending his average at 113.88.
