Free Password Secure Version LastPass is no longer for phone and desktop | NOW

The free version of LastPass Password Manager will no longer work on mobile phone and PC as of March 16. Users must choose the type of device they want to use Password Vault on. Anyone who wants to use LastPass on their smartphone or computer must purchase a paid subscription, he reports company Tuesday.

Password managers are services that allow users to store their passwords in a secure digital safe. LastPass is one of the more well-known providers, alongside, for example, 1Password and Dashlane.

In addition to secure storage, many password manager providers also offer the option of copying passwords and auto-filling them on websites. This way, people can use a unique and complex password for each site without having to remember it.

The change from mid-March means that LastPass will be less accessible to people who don’t pay for the service, but use the safe on their laptops and smartphones, for example.

They now have to choose whether their use is for computers (including Internet browsers on desktops and laptops) or mobile devices (smartphones, tablets and smartwatches). In these categories, users are still allowed to use an unlimited number of devices.

A paid subscription to LastPass costs 34.80 euros per year. The company also offers family plans.
