OnePlus is working on a range of new features for its camera app. For example, there is a feature that ensures that the images look like thumbnails, but there is also a tool that helps you focus.

Leading to the OnePlus 9, the brand’s next flagship device, we expect OnePlus to develop new possibilities for its Camera app. XDA Developers already searched in the code of the application supplied with the OnePlus 7T and its Android 11 beta and found five new features for the Camera app. We have listed them for you here.

1. Tilt-shift
This is immediately the feature on which most of the information was discovered on inclusion visuals which describe the operation. You probably know those funny Madurodam movies with little characters and moving cars? This camera function aims to simulate this effect of an artificial city. Everything appears to be in miniature, and OnePlus also seems to equip the feature with plenty of ways to customize the effect entirely to your liking. It is not clear whether this feature only works when taking photos or also when filming.

2. Hyperlapse
OnePlus has offered the timelapse feature in its camera app for some time, but it looks like a special hyperlapse is coming as well. A timelapse is a time-lapse effect based on separate photos placed one after the other, but in a hyperlapse you do the same with moving images.
3. Starburst
When you normally point the camera at the sun, you get some weird lens distortion which usually makes your photos look unimpressive. The new Starburst Mode for OnePlus ensures that your phone’s camera is properly optimized for photos that show the sun shining brightly, and around the sun you see rays appearing as a star. You can also see this in the example below of a “starburst” effect. Your phone’s camera tries to capture as much light as possible, but not too much at the same time so that the image remains sharp.

4. Maximum concentration
This feature is already known to photographers as part of the software on SLR cameras. It is an aid that allows you to make sure that the correct part of a subject that you want to focus on is in the image. In the camera’s viewfinder, you will see an outline marking of what is in focus. This may be part of OnePlus’ Pro camera feature.

5. Moon mode
Various phone makers have been optimizing their cameras for taking great pictures of the moon for some time. Looking ahead to the launch of the Huawei P30, CEO Richard Yu has already taken one nice picture of the moon in combination with the phone’s periscope camera. Rumors say we don’t have to expect a periscope camera with 5x optical zoom with the OnePlus 9 and the Pro version, but OnePlus has other plans to optimize its phones for great photos of the moon.
