There are plenty of interesting storylines as the 2020 Soso Championship begins, especially considering this event is the last of three straight PGA Tour events on the West Coast. Tiger Woods is playing for the first time in a month, and the 2019 champion of the tournament is trying to go back to an event for the first time since the 2012 and 2013 invitations to Arnold Palmer.
John Rahm and Sander Schaffel are both trying to turn the latest elite game into a victory before the final of the year. Rory McIlroy and Colin Morikawa – two of the eight top 10 golfers in the world playing this week – both have some things to play before Augusta. Justin Thomas, currently the world No. 3 player, is trying to stay hot on the horizon in another masters effort.
All in all, this event should be a little more intense than normal by mid-October. While the benefit of the PGA Tour in these uncut events is always playing for a ton of money, November often doesn’t have a huge amount to produce as much as they would like at this time.
