100,000 euros needed to renew the playground: “There is still so much room”

The playground at Clematisstraat in Aalsmeer consists of a single slide and two swings. According to a mother in the Marit district, it is high time for that to change. Along with two other parents, she has put together a task force to craft a plan for a stimulating new playground that has something for everyone.

For the playground, the theme “On land, at sea and in the air” was chosen, in connection with Aalsmeer’s unique location in relation to Schiphol airport and Westeinderplassen.

According to Marit, the possibilities are plentiful due to the space available on the playground. “There is still about 500 square meters of grass left. There is still a lot to be done.”

Brooke and Wes, who both live in the neighborhood, know what they want to see on the playground. “For us, we love a cable car. There is still a lot of space here so that we can fill it with a cable car. It’s a bit boring now.”

Funding

The municipality of Aalsmeer, the Schiphol Environment Foundation and the Meerlandenfonds have already pledged a donation. The initiators have come a long way with this, but it’s not enough to build the playing field. Marit has found something for it: “It’s possible to donate through a website. Every little bit helps. “

The meter now stands at around 30,000 euros and a total of 100,000 euros is needed to actually build the playground. Marit hopes the fundraising campaign will raise enough money to get started.

Ilse, who is sometimes bored in the Aalsmeer playground, wants a playground that is accessible to everyone. “A trampoline, a large climbing tower and we also want a playground where young and old and people with or without disabilities can play.”
